From 2002-2003, I participated in Pepperdine University’s Online Master of Arts in Educational Technology (OMET) program (which has since been renamed to MA in Learning Technologies). The program was, and is to this day, 85% online, 15% face to face. The majority of my work was done online, via my living room in Chicago. I learned to work and communicate with people a world away. My classmates were from California, Missouri, Washington state, Italy, and many other places.
My research consisted of trying to make a change in my workplace. At the time, I was a Technology Coordinator in a small suburban Chicago school district, and I was trying to figure out the best way to approach staff development. The research I did during the OMET program forever shaped how I view my work.
